The New Zealander of the Year Family of Awards will recognize the diverse talents and achievements of many New Zealanders. The awards will seek out and acknowledge the positive contribution that individuals and community groups are making to economic, social, cultural and environmental issues.

When I look around our country I am impressed by the involvement and commitment many New Zealanders of all ages and backgrounds are making to the positive development of our nation.

The New Zealander of the Year Awards will give us the opportunity to say thank you and give encouragement to individuals and community groups for their dedication and contributions to New Zealand.
